Intraocular Lens (IOL) Options

IOL Options

During a standard cataract surgery, an opacified natural lens is removed and replaced with an artificial lens (intraocular lens implant, i.e., IOL). There are multiple options for the choice of the intraocular lens to be used in the procedure. Most people receive a monofocal IOL, while others may be candidates for special lenses that have the ability to correct astigmatism as well as improve intermediate and near vision. The discussion with regards to the implant options takes place during the cataract surgery evaluation with an ophthalmologist.

The following short video demonstrates available intraocular lens implant options.
