Enucleation/Evisceration/Prosthetic Eye & Socket Repair

Unfortunately there are situations in which an eye needs to be removed. In these cases, Dr. Soll inserts an implant to maintain the volume of the orbit that is lost by removing the eye. He then places a plastic conformer which is the size of a large contact lens. This holds open the space for where the artificial eye will sit. Once the healing process is complete, Dr. Soll works closely with ocularists who are artists skilled in designing prosthetic eyes. Dr. Soll works to make the sure the artificial eye looks as much like the fellow eye as possible.
