Entropion/Ectropion

As time goes by, the major structures that support the eyelid can loosen. This leads to eyelids that droop, turn out, or turn in. An eyelid that is not in its proper position leads to an unhealthy ocular surface. Eyelids that turn in can irritate the eye because the eyelashes can irritate the surface of the eye. Eyelids that turn out can lead to chronic tearing because the tear ducts cannot properly drain tears.
