THE
DIABETIC EYE CENTER OF PHILADELPHIA
Vision Care for People With Diabetes The Diabetic Eye
Center of Philadelphia is a division of Soll Eye Associates and is under
the direction of their retinal specialist,
Dr. David Rho
Diabetes Mellitus attacks all parts of the body. A leading cause
of blindness, diabetes increases the risk of visual loss due to retinal
problems, glaucoma and cataracts. The condition can also cause other
eye problems such as eye muscle imbalances which cause double vision.
The Diabetic Eye Center of Philadelphia provides a significant service
to the community, being devoted specifically to the care of diabetic
patients. In many cases, the eye conditions in diabetic patients
require special treatment. Although most skilled ophthalmologists
can identify these conditions, their offices may not be properly
equipped to treat them. This central facility was created to gather
all these treatments in one place, making it unnecessary for patients
to travel across different parts of the city from one eye specialist
to another.
New advances in ophthalmology continue to increase the support available
to diabetic patients with eye problems. Conditions that were not
treatable in the recent past are now treated using lasers and other
new techniques. Diabetic retinopathy eventually affects nearly every
juvenile and adult onset diabetic. The treatments we have today can
save the sight of patients who might have become visually disabled
in the past.
The Diabetic Eye Center has state-of-the-art instruments such as
computerized digital angiography, which evaluates the retinal blood
vessels immediately, and the dye laser, which is used to treat many
different types of retinal problems. Our team approach includes full-time
retina, glaucoma and cataract specialists all in one office who specialize
in diabetic eye care needs.
